Seems like most people are generally talking about pre-flop strategy, so I would like to talk a little bit about how I wager on immediately after the flop. Perhaps I can assist others, or possibly they’ve got advice to enhance my play.

I imagine that two of the most critical plays immediately after the flop are the semi-bluff and the defensive bet. That is because these are the plays you make if you havent hit a hand except you have a very good drawing hand. Its easy to bet on a hand whenever you flop a monster. Except I imagine that these 2 are the ideal techniques to wager on a drawing. Each one is wagered depending on you opponent(s) and your postion. So here is how I play it, so tell me what you think.

Early Position – Tight Opponents:

A semi-bluff works fairly nicely in this position. Appear out wagering and if a tight player didn’t hit a hand he’ll probably lay down, and if he is unsure you may perhaps get a call. But watch out, if that tight gambler comes back over the best it may possibly be time to get away.

Early Placement – Loose Competitors

That is were I like to perform a defensive wager. Choose how numerous chips you’re willing to chance on your draw and wager. This really is usually a much lower wager than normal. It has been my understanding that the loose player will usually just call a bet instead of re-raise. Nonetheless, should you check to them, theyre much more likely to throw in a lot more chips than your willing to pay.

Late Placement – Tight Competitors

This is the greatest time to accomplish a semi-bluff, especially if most of the table checks. If that is the case you’ll probaly pick up the pot now. If a gambler prior to has bet, you might have to decide if he has a hand or not. If not, then reraise and he’ll most likely go away since he was attempting to steal the pot. If you believe he does, effectively then it’s time to compute your odds, and come to a decision if the pot odds are worth the call.

Late Placement – Loose Competitors

This one is a bit difficult, because it is tougher to put a loose gambler on a hand. And if your in late placement against loose player, odds are they have already bet. This can be had been I usually make a decision to take a chance and come back over the best of them and hope they do not call, and if they do, properly then its time to gamble. Odds are though even a loose gambler will go away in the event you arrive back strong enough.

Keep in mind although that these are moves I only make soon after the flop comes and I have a respectable drawing hand (usually not a gutshot either). Possibly 4 to the flush or the open ended straight, for example.
