Annie Duke may not have earned her 1st WSOP Bracelet until ‘04 but she is one of the most powerful poker competitors around the live action matches at The Bellagio in sin city. Annie’s longawaited WSOP bracelet came with a win at the "buried game" of Omaha hi lo.
While competitors from the "younger crowd" of poker go crazy after a large win at the tournament, Annie heads home and becomes "mom" to her 4 kids. She was born in New Hampshire into a family of card competitors. If you do not accept that, observe her brother, Howard Lederer, in action who taught her how to wager on the game.
However, Annie Duke is no small change girl and has captured her cut of hard tables, including eliminating Howard along the way on several occasions. They are both players that have the capability to acquire the huge $$$$$ and do so with a smile.
Annie Duke is a tough competitor at any poker table considering that she is a legitimate poker player, but it’s a little more than simply being good at the game. Annie Duke is extremely intelligent and graduated from Columbia U where she took a double major in English and Psychology.
When you sit across from Annie at the poker table you know Annie is there to compete in the game and she begins "sizing" you up as soon as you approach the table. If you can not play like a winner, then do not waste your time.
Acquiring over $3 million in tournament play, Annie Duke branched out to become a consultant to both the UltimateBet poker room and actor Ben Affleck, who aspired to hone his techniques and become a power at the tables.
You may glimpse her at the Bellagio, you’ll definitely see her on the tv and you may even compete against her in a web-based poker game, but do not expect a simple win. Unless you’re a camp-in-the-making, you’ll not defeat her. However, it’d be fun to mention you played at the at the table with "The Duke".
