Howard Lederer lived in a family of five where he enjoyed gambling on different card games at a young age. He discovered himself becoming really aggressive in these card games while playing his dad. After graduating from Sr. High school, Howard made a decision to put higher education on hold for a little bit and relocated to New York City to compete in some serious chess. While competing in chess, he was introduced to a poker game going on in the rear of the room. Howard’s first 2 years were tough as he played extensive hours and lose a majority of the time. He made some extra cash by being an runner for the poker players. He believed he possibly could better his game by analyzing his life outside of poker. He made an attempt to get more rest and concentrate more on poker.
The definite improvement in his abilities happened when he began betting at the Mayfair Club in New York City. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the best gamblers would frequently wager against each other. Howard had access into some of the greatest players in chess. With their help, Howard Lederer would hone his logical thinking techniques. Howard used these strategy ideas in the game of No-Limit holdem.
Howard Lederer also assisted his sibling Annie Duke master poker. Annie Duke was an excellent student of the game as she constantly asked questions about the right way to make the proper choice. Howard Lederer told Annie to head out to Las Vegas and play in the WSOP competition. Annie is one of the best women players the poker world today. He moved to Sin City in 1993 and played money games for the successive 10 years. When the WPT gained popularity, he decided to participate in more tournaments.
