No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Sunday, 17. December 2017

Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by many of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover every little thing he could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the detrimental comments from others annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the best poker competitors in the world.

He began competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated many of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable love for poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes errors in each game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Even though Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
