Net High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
Sunday, 11. February 2018
Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only player to achieve final poker table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a big pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest bettors anywhere in the world. While betting on net poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He often participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Gus more often than not buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He waits patiently for a good hand and then goes all-in. I know Hansen is an excellent poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is penniless, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the game with the minimum buy-in.
Playing for the minimum takes most of the ability out of big stack poker. Gus is assumed to be one of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amount. I believe television can alter our perception of the real world every now and then. The greatest players anywhere in the world may be players you have never heard about. Gus can be found betting on net poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in big stakes omaha/8 and texas hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his abilities in cash games?
