Omaha Hi Lo: Basic Outline

Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is frequently seen as one of the most complex but popular poker variations. It is a game that, even more than regular Omaha poker, invites play from every level of players. This is the main reason why a once invisible variation, has grown in popularity so rapidly.
Omaha hi/low starts like a regular game of Omaha. 4 cards are dealt to each player. A sequence of wagering follows in which gamblers can bet, check, or fold. 3 cards are dealt out, this is known as the flop. A further sequence of betting ensues. After all the gamblers have either called or dropped out, an additional card is flipped on the turn. a further round of betting follows and then the river card is revealed. The players must attempt to make the strongest high and low 5 card hands based on the board and hole cards.
This is where many entrants often get baffled. Contrasted to Texas Hold ‘Em, where the board can be every player’s hand, in Omaha hi/low the player must utilize precisely 3 cards from the board, and precisely 2 hole cards. Not a single card more, not a single card less. Unlike regular Omaha, there are two ways a pot can be won: the "higher hand" or the "low hand."
A high hand is exactly how it sounds. It is the best hand out of everyone’s, regardless if it is a straight, flush, full house, etc. It is the same notion in just about every poker game.
A low hand is more complicated, but really opens up the play. When deciding on a low hand, straights and flushes do not count. the lowest hand is the worst hand that might be made, with the lowest being A-2-3-4-5. Since straights and flushes do not count, A-2-3-4-5 is the worst possible hand. The low hand is any five card hand (unpaired) with an eight and below. The lower hand takes half of the pot, as just like the higher hand. When there’s no lower hand available, the higher hand takes the whole pot.
While it seems difficult at first, following a couple of hands you will be able to pick up on the fundamental subtleties of the game with ease. Since you have individuals wagering for the low and wagering for the high, and seeing as such a large number of cards are in play, Omaha 8 or better provides an amazing assortment of wagering options and seeing that you have many individuals trying for the high hand, and a few battling for the low hand.
