Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha/8 or better) is commonly seen as one of the most difficult but favored poker games. Omaha 8 or better begins exactly like a normal game of Omaha. 4 cards are given out to every player. A round of wagering ensues in which players can bet, check, or drop out. Once all the players have either called or folded, a further card is revealed on the turn. a further sequence of betting follows at which point the river card is revealed. The players will have to put together the best high and low 5 card hands using the board and hole cards.
This is where some players get flustered. Unlike Holdem, in which the board can be every player’s hand, in Omaha hi-low the player has to utilize precisely three cards on the board, and precisely 2 hole cards. Not a single card more, no less. Unlike regular Omaha, there are 2 ways a pot may be won: the "higher hand" or the "low hand."
A high hand is just how it sounds. It’s the strongest possible hand out of every player’s, whether that is a straight, flush, full house. It is the identical concept in nearly every poker game.
The lower hand is more complex, but really opens up the action. When figuring out a low hand, straights and flushes don’t count. the lowest hand is the weakest hand that might be made, with the worst being made up of A-2-3-4-5. Since straights and flushes don’t count, A-2-3-4-5 is the worst possible hand. The low hand is any five card hand (unpaired) with an eight and lower. The low hand takes half of the pot, as does the higher hand. When there’s no low hand presented, the high hand wins the entire pot.
