Net Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Wednesday, 12. August 2026

Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to make it to the last poker table in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. He secured a massive pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best gamblers anywhere in the world. While playing web poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. He regularly plays in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus usually buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He waits patiently for a good hand and then pushes all in. I know Hansen is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless he is flat broke, he has little or no reason to settle at the game with the min buy in.

Buying in for the minimum takes a majority of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be 1 of the greatest players in the world but he can’t buy in for the total amt.. I think tv can skew our perception of the real world sometimes. The greatest players anywhere in the world could be guys you have never heard about. Gus can be seen participating in internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in big stakes omaha eight-or-better and Holdem. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his talents in cash rounds?
